About Us
Ever wondered why that prickle of anxiety steps in right when you do something you perceive as scary? Or why you need to react with anger, running, or by stopping dead? Do you wonder why you feel in a constant state of fight or flight? Or wonder why you think if you’re overly nice to someone they might stop being mean to you?
These are your threat responses: fight, flight, freeze and fawn and they are here to keep you safe and alive - thank you brain! Sometimes however, they overreact and it's your job to remind them that you’re safe and don’t need a threat response to be triggered.
Threat Threads is here to remind you that you are a cave person with ancient hardwired threat responses living in the 21st century. It’s not your fault you’re having threat responses or your body is doing weird things, but you can control it. Your subconscious needs to be reassured that an email from your boss is not the same threat as a tiger about to eat you and it all starts with recognising how your threat responses are presenting.
So what’s your go to when you’re faced with a perceived threat? Anger? Walking away? Frozen in fear? Being a human doormat? And are these reactions always necessary?
‘Brain, we are just:
showering;
Leaving the house;
Meeting friends;
Sitting an exam;
Speaking in public;
Seeing the doctor/dentist;
we aren’t going to die, chill the fuck out, we don’t need a threat response right now’.
Wear these t-shirts with pride and as a little reminder that you’re working on your threat responses and are really safe, happy, and totally fine!
